The Library Assessment Program (LAP) uses a wide range of assessment methodologies and tools, including both qualitative and quantitative data, in guiding the Library to
- understand Berkeley users' needs and demands
- improve the efficiency and effectiveness of library services
- continue building one of the world's leading research and cultural collections
- maximize the library space use
- demonstrate the library's value in supporting Berkeley's research, teaching and learning activities
The Library Assessment Program gathers data on various library services, collections, and resources; assesses the data; analyzes and presents results visualized using Tableau to assist Library staff and administration in making data driven decisions. Berkeley Library Annual Statistics Data Inventory
The Berkeley Library Annual Statistics Data Inventory is a comprehensive collection of data that documents the Library’s work across collections, access and usage, digital services, physical spaces, teaching and research support, outreach, finance, and staffing. The inventory is designed as a living tool. We will continue to refine over time by clarifying definitions, expanding the scope of what we measure, adn deepening our understanidng of what the data mean.
