II. Reports
- Treasurer (J. He)
- Current balance: $48,041.35
- Meeting with UL (R. Collins)
- Q) How can each unit ensure proper precautions are taken for workplace safety? UL: Library Cabinet is reviewing all reopening plans, and everyone must conform to public health & university guidelines.
- Q) Asking about remote or hybrid work schedules: will the library consider a phased-in approach, or wait for recommendations from the Future of Work group? UL: There are multiple groups on campus discussing this issue. There will be general guidance from campus and considerations for telework will be made depending on your job functions and family care needs. Library services & return to work will be phased-in.
- LIBR meeting (S. McElrath)
- UL talked about the OA agreements, 10 agreements in the last two years. Data is showing we are not paying more than anticipated.
- Reopening:
- July 12th - limited reopening
- Sept 1st - full reopening, including the public
- Will need to train many new student workers which takes time
- With SILS launch, there may be a limited block on checkouts for a brief time
- LIBR Committee discussed their role and desire to be more proactive. Things to consider for the future: rethinking library services more broadly, value in centralized services, advocates for library spaces & meeting spaces, more advocacy for CAPRA, organizing field trips to visit libraries.
- LAUC statewide conference call (R. Collins)
- Academic Freedom Presentation was May 3rd. Rest of the Assembly was on May 6th. We’ll coordinate our local LAUC-B election with the Statewide election.
- Marty Brennan, statewide president, is heading up an academic freedom initiative. Looking for people who might be academic freedom ambassadors, possibly one contact from each campus to educate members.
III. Continuing/Outstanding Business
- DLA Committee to review and possibly update DLA procedures (next meeting on 6-1-21)
IV. New Business
- Shall we charge a task force to study the question of how to store/provide access to videos of LAUC-B events?
- Concerns over sharing videos publicly unless fully accessible. For now, send videos to LAUC-B Secretary to store in drive.
V. Member questions/concerns??
- None.
