- Q) How can LAUC-B help celebrate Black History Month, Women’s History Month, etc. How can we collaborate with Library Communications? UL: Library Communications notes these events via Twitter, blogs, etc. Librarians may also submit a form on the Library Communications webpage directly for help publicizing events.
- Q) How will Library Admin assess librarians’ comfort level with returning to work on site in Fall 2021? UL: We need to gather information, and others are working on this topic as well. Transition will be one step at a time, timeline unknown at this point.
C. LIBR meeting (S. McElrath)
- Focused on the fundraising letter, which was distributed the first week in February.
- LIBR supports providing study space for students on campus. UL confirms the library is planning to offer study space once in-person instruction begins.
- Library may open in-person study space by March 1st in floors 4 & 5 of Moffitt, but there are concerns over coordinating space in Moffitt. Library has started looking at EAL for study space as well.
- Budget savings measure: UCOP is eliminating CDL’s monetary contribution to systemwide journal licenses. Concern over how this extra cost may be passed on to libraries. UCOP will postpone this for one year by using discretionary funds to cover the cost.
