Candidates for LAUC-B Offices

Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect

Jane Rosario

I am honored to be nominated for the office of Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of LAUC-B. I am a librarian in Catalog & Metadata Services (Main Library). Over the 15 years that I have been at UCB as a librarian, I have served LAUC-B as Secretary (2003-2004), on the Conference Committee (2007-2009), and on CAPA (2009-2011), among other involvements. I have served Statewide LAUC as Secretary (2005-2006), as Berkeley representative to the Committee on Diversity (2013-2015), and most recently, as part of the LAUC 50th Anniversary Committee (2016-2017). I take seriously what it is to be a professional librarian at a great research university, and I would welcome the opportunity to work on behalf of all my librarian colleagues, as we face the inevitable challenges (new and recurring) that come our way.

Secretary

James Eason

If elected, it will be my pleasure to serve LAUC-B as Secretary of the Executive Committee.  LAUC-B does good and necessary work in professional governance and librarian development, and I look forward to contributing to our community in this role. My past LAUC-B experience includes CAPA service, chairing task forces (2010, 2013-2014) to revise the Berkeley Procedures for librarian appointments and review, and chairing the Nominations and Elections Committee.

Treasurer

Randal Brandt

I have been the Head of the Cataloging Unit at The Bancroft Library since 2001. Previously, I worked as Technical Services Librarian at the Water Resources Center Archive. While I have had several LAUC-B appointments in the past, including the Committee on Professional Development (2011-2012), the Committee on Appointment, Promotion, and Advancement (2002-2005), Web Manager (2003-2007), and Affiliated Libraries Representative (1995-1997), it has been a number of years since my last service and I am eager to serve LAUC-B once again. One of the requisite skills for a cataloger is attention to detail and I look forward to applying that same skill to the role of LAUC-B Treasurer.

Library Representative

Virginia Shih

I am honored to be a nominee for Library Representative on the LAUC-B Executive Committee. I have served on all LAUC-B committees and LAUC-B conference planning committee either as chair or as member over the years and have gained a wide spectrum of professional experience in working with past and present LAUC-B members. I currently serve on the LAUC-B Nominating and Elections Committee and I welcome the opportunity to contribute what I can to LAUC-B Executive Committee to move forward what needs to be done for LAUC-B community.

Thank you for your consideration.

Library Representative

Ian Knabe

I am honored to be considered for the position of Library Representative to the LAUC-B Executive Committee. As a relatively new librarian here at Berkeley I have enjoyed working with and getting to know colleagues across the libraries in my role as  Electronic Resources Librarian. Working in Acquisitions is often 'cross-disciplinary,' which has provided a growing understanding of the the wide variety of different resources and challenges here at Berkeley, and I feel this makes me a good fit for the role of Library Representative. While at the University of Maryland I had a very rewarding experience serving two terms as a Representative to the UMD Library Assembly, and am excited about the opportunity to take a similar role in LAUC. Thank you for your consideration.
