Candidates for LAUC-B Offices
Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect, LAUC-B Executive Committee
Brian Quigley
I am honored to be nominated for the office of Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect of LAUC-B. Currently, I am the Head of the Engineering & Physical Sciences Division. In my 16 years at Berkeley, I have served on the Executive Committee as Library Representative (2002-2003) and Secretary (2005-2006), and I have also served as a member and then as Chair of both CAPA and the Nominations & Elections Committee. I have worked in three campus libraries and contributed to several library-wide committees and initiatives including the New Directions and Re-envisioning Library Services processes. As we embark on another period of strategic planning, and endeavor to turn challenges into opportunities, I look forward to contributing my broad perspective from these experiences as we discuss and advise on professional issues and library priorities. If elected, I welcome the opportunity to represent my librarian colleagues as Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect.
Secretary, LAUC-B Executive Committee
Samantha Teplitzky
I am pleased to be running for LAUC-B Secretary. I came to Berkeley as a graduate student in Geography in 2000, and was glad to return first as reference assistant at the Bioscience Library in 2011 and since 2014, as the Earth and Physical Sciences Librarian. I have enjoyed working with colleagues outside of my immediate areas on the Committee for Professional Development (2014-16) and welcome the opportunity to become more involved in LAUC-B by serving as Secretary. Thank you for your consideration.
Lisa Rowlison de Ortiz
I would be delighted to serve as LAUC-B Secretary and carry on the tradition of preparing and communicating timely and thorough minutes of the LAUC-B Executive Committee's meetings. Having served on the LAUC-B Committee on Research and as the LAUC Statewide representative to both SOPAG and Heads of Technical Services, I feel I am prepared and qualified to serve my Berkeley colleagues in the capacity of LAUC-B Secretary. Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to have the opportunity to serve.
Library Representative, LAUC-B Executive Committee
I am pleased to be considered for the position of Library Representative to the LAUC-B Executive Committee. My experience serving on the 2015 LAUC-B conference committee inspired me to become more involved, and as a relatively new librarian at Berkeley I am excited by the opportunity to learn more about LAUC. As the GIS & Map Librarian my interests span many disciplines, which I feel makes me well suited for the role of Library Representative. I would be honored to serve; thank you for your consideration.

I am honored to be a nominee for Library Representative on the LAUC-B Executive Committee. I’ve been a librarian at Berkeley for just about one year and I feel it is time to make a contribution to the Librarians Association. At the University of Maryland I participated in the activities of the Library Assembly as a member, and later Chair of the Staff Affairs Committee (SAC) and chair of the Faculty Merit and Annual Review Committee (FMARC). As a committee chair I also participated in the Library Assembly Executive Committee. From my service as the chair of FMARC I’m familiar with the importance of communicating librarians issues and perspective to administration. As chair of that committee I led the discussion among the library faculty on how they wanted to award merit, and continued to work with Library Administration and the Library Assembly to identify improvements to the annual review and merit process. I look forward to the opportunity to represent librarians to the Chancellor and Library Administration at the University of California, Berkeley.

I’m honored to be nominated to be a Library Representative for the LAUC-B Executive Committee. I’ve been Curator of Rare Book and Literary Manuscripts at The Bancroft Library since July 2014. During my time here I’ve seen the important work LAUC-B does to bring together the librarians working at the many libraries across campus. Before coming here I worked at Emory University where I served as both a committee member and chair of their equivalent to LAUC-B. I was chair during a particularly challenging time for the library so I’ve witnessed firsthand how significant such an organization can be. Thank you for your consideration.
Affiliated Library Representative, LAUC-B Executive Committee
Dean Rowan
It is my privilege to stand as candidate for incoming representative on the LAUC-B Executive Committee and Chair-Elect of the Affiliated Libraries Affairs Committee. During my 15 years as a law librarian on the Berkeley campus I have served on various LAUC-B committees, and for over ten years continuously as statewide Parliamentarian. I am eager to represent the Affiliated Libraries at a time when LAUC will celebrate its semi-centennial. Moreover, I believe the Affiliated Librarians have much to learn from and to contribute to The Library's ongoing strategic planning effort as part of the campus academic realignment initiative. I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the campus libraries and librarians.
